Painting Workshops at The Brant Foundation

The Brant Foundation’s painting workshops are open to artists of all experience levels. Inspired by the Foundation’s current exhibitions, participants are invited explore the works on view while expanding their own creative practice.   Scroll down for more information on upcoming and past workshops.

  • Inspired by Francesco Clemente

Portraiture Workshop

Inspired by Francesco Clemente’s exhibition, Works 1978-2018, this instructed portraiture workshop gives artists the unique opportunity to work amidst a selection of Clemente’s stylistically distinct portraits, currently on view at The Brant Foundation.  Led by artist, Jennifer Caviola, participants will explore various types of portraits, poses, and techniques while working from a live model in the gallery.  This workshop is open to artists of all ages and experience levels.

$10 per person

Free for students with a valid ID

Please bring your own materials (no oils or acrylics)

Easels and paper will be provided

Painting Workshop - Abstract Landscape

Taking place outside amidst The Brant Foundation’s vibrant Connecticut landscape, this instructed painting workshop encourages artists to explore the process of abstracting from the figurative world of nature.  Led by artist, Jennifer Caviola, participants will discuss Joe Bradley’s abstract paintings, currently on view at The Brant Foundation, and discover techniques for merging figurative and abstract forms inspired by the idyllic terrain.

This workshop is $10 per person and open to artists of all experience levels.  Admission is free for students with a valid school ID and individuals under the age of 18.  Please bring your own materials (easels are available on site).
