PRESS RELEASE: The community is invited to view and celebrate the work of several local photographers whose work is included in the 38th Annual Photography Show at The Carriage Barn Arts Center in Waveny Park.  An opening reception will be held on Saturday, January 20 from 4-6pm, and the exhibit will be on view through Sunday, February 18, 2018.  Most of the photographs are for sale and a portion of sales benefits the Carriage Barn Arts Center.  An online gallery can be viewed at CarriageBarn.org/2018Photo/

Over 700 images were submitted for consideration and about 110 pieces were selected. The show was juried by Allison Brant, director of The Brant Foundation Art Study Center in Greenwich, and Carl Fuldner, photography department fellow at the Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven.  Both will be at the opening reception and present an award for their “Best In Show” selection.

The exhibiting artists include professional, amateur and student photographers from throughout Connecticut and beyond.  New Canaan photographers with work accepted into the show include Audrey Bloom, Elise Skye Curren, Dutch Doscher, David Hurwitt, Margaret Lewis, Charlotte Mayer, Jeanne McDonagh, Samantha Pepe, Christopher Prescott, Jeanna Shepard and Madeleine Wilson.

Sponsored by The New Canaan Society for the Arts, the exhibit is generously supported by Bankwell, Walter Stewart’s Market and Stewart’s Spirits.  Additional support is provided by Milford Camera and Rockwell Art & Framing.  The Carriage Barn Arts Center is open to the public and admission is free.  Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday from 10am-3pm and Sunday from 1-5pm.
